OUR SECOND BLOG POST – MINOR STAKEHOLDER ISSUES

13 March 2020

Do your fishing practices limits bi-catch and should you accidentally catch dolphins or sea turtles, what happens to them?

  • Bi-catch happens does happen during our operations. We have multiple measures in place to identify bi-catch and to dispose of them safely. If a dolphin is caught for example, our fisherman are on watch to identify this risk, they will immediately come together to free the dolpin and ensure it is safely back in its natural environment.

Are there any procedures in place to ensure the quality of the products produced by wholesalers to whom you sell your anchovies?

  • It is very important to us to ensure our anchovy is used in high quality products. We only sell to wholesalers who treat the fish with respect and who do not falsely advertise their products. If a wholesaler does either of the above mentioned, Anchor Management Limited will cease to do business with them.

Complaints about working conditions of the ships are terrible, it was also said that the toilets are disgusting and the food is horrible.

  • We are looking to employ a new caterer for the boat to try and keep costs low, but indeed improve the meals by some bit.
  • Two extra cleaners per boat have been contracted to set sail on the future trips.

Request for Wi-Fi and bring pet animals onto the boat.

  • We will not be able to supply the boats with Wi-Fi as it is very expensive and it would be preferred if employees make use of land line on board to contact their friends and family when they are not on duty.
  • As we are very concerned about our quality goods. We will not allow pets on to the boat. Pets tend to give of fur or feathers and might cause sanitation problems.
